A small University College, Cork study found that a daily probiotic regimen decreased perceived anxiety and increased short term memory capacity. The study, performed on a small group of healthy men, found that after a month of probiotic treatment there was correlation to decreased anxiety and improved memory. This study, though small, reinforces the need to comprehensively investigate the effect safe probiotics like Bifidobacterium longum may have on our mental health.
