Our Probiotic Strains: B. lactis Bi-04/Bi-07

Probiotics like Bifidobacterium lactis have been shown in research to benefit a healthy immune system and way of life.

You should be friends with Bifidobacterium lactis.

In fact, you already are.  In your intestinal tract you and B. lactis are intimately connected.

Bifidobacterium animalis var. lactis, often referred to as B. lactis, is an anaerobic bacteria that occurs in human intestinal tracts as well as the GI tracts of many mammals and is a probiotic [1].  It is a lactic acid bacteria, and it produces that substance wherever Bifidobacterium live. It is also found in many cheeses, yogurts and fermented foods [1].

See? I told you you should be friends.

Scientists distinguish genetic subtypes of these bacterial species as strains.  Many of them have a code or number identification instead of a name.  H2PRO™ uses two important strains of Bifidobacterium lactis in our formulation, Bi-04 and Bi-07.

These strains are well researched and I think you will find that there are compelling reasons to make B. lactis and H2PRO™ a part of a daily diet routine.

B. lactis is FLEX. What is YOUR superpower?

B. lactis is already used to treat many gastro-intestinal ailments including constipation, Heliobacter pylori infection, diarrhea in infants, traveler’s diarrhea and to accompany antibiotic treatment in order to support the GI tract microbiota, to name a few.

But B. lactis Bi-04 and Bi-07 are gaining a reputation for stimulating immunity and helping prevent upper respiratory tract infections.

In a 2009 study published in Pediatrics, kids ages 3-5 years old were given probiotics for 6 months.  Cold and flu-like symptoms were down in all treatments [2].  However, in the treatments that combined Lactobacillus acidophilus (also in our H2PRO™ formulations) and B. lactis Bi-07  antibiotic use went down 84% and fever incidence decreased 72% [2].  Other symptoms like coughing and runny nose decreased by about 60% [2].

Another study revealed that 6 out of 7 probiotics stimulated the immune system in adults, including B. lactis Bi-04 which was found to stimulate increased Immunoglobulin G (IgG) in the body [3]. IgG is associated with immune ‘memory.’  The authors postulate that increased levels of IgG may potentially lead to long term disease prevention through immune health and immune memory [3].

There’s more….

And that is not all! B. lactis Bi-04 has been found to have results treating allergic rhinitis when taken during the birch pollen season by previously allergic kids [4]. These 47 kids began taking a 5 billion CFU probiotic combination of Lactobacillus acidophilus and B. lactis Bi-04 prior to pollen season [4].  There was a significant decrease in runny nose, nasal blockage, and intestinal inflammation markers during the treatment [4].  Eye symptoms were unaffected.

B. lactis Bi-04 and Bi-07 don’t show results in only children, research indicates that elderly patients may benefit from increased immunity through probiotic usage [5]. A 2014 study of adults age 60+ found increased phagocytic activity, in other words, the immune system was stimulated by the use of B. lactis Bi-07, even at a 1 billion CFU dose ( H2PRO™ uses 7 bill CFU per packet) [5].

This immune activity could indicate increased immune response to infectious agents, and potentially, less infection in elderly adults.  Since immune function declines with age, future research will attempt to connect the increased phagocytic activity to an actual decline in infection.

Our superpower is our collection of super probiotics, in a single daily dose.

Bifidobacterium lactis Bi-04 and Bi-07, both found in all H2PRO™ products, are two of our super-strains.  When combined with our other strains, including Lactobacillus acidophilus, they make our superpower: a great probiotic team.

Consider the effects on allergy, upper respiratory infection, immunity and more. Perhaps the SUPER team of probiotics in H2PRO™ are worth your daily dose.
